Murrie Kemp

Honouring Country Through Yarbun Creations

At Yarbun Creations, Murrie continues the work of his ancestors by crafting natural bush products that honour cultural traditions and promote holistic wellbeing. His work is a modern expression of age-old wisdom — rooted in respect for land, sustainability, and self-determination.

The Power of Language and Identity

Beyond bush medicine, Murrie is a passionate advocate for First Nations language revitalisation. He recognises that language is not only a vehicle for communication, but a powerful anchor for identity, strength, and belonging. Reclaiming language is, for Murrie, a form of cultural healing — and a way forward.

Leading With Culture, Empowering Through Enterprise

Through Yarbun Creations, Murrie is not just preserving cultural knowledge — he is using it to create opportunity, build pride, and empower future generations. Every product tells a story. Every initiative plants a seed. And every step forward honours the footsteps of those who came before.

“…to see change on a much larger scale, to follow in the footsteps of my father, grandfathers… to help, and to prove that we Blackfellas, we can do anything.”

A Lineage of Healing and Knowledge

Murrie Kemp carries a deep and enduring legacy — one that flows through generations of knowledge holders, healers, and leaders. Born in the resilient Aboriginal community of Woorabinda in Central Queensland, Murrie is a proud Ghungalu and Yuwi man whose connection to bush medicine and Country runs in his blood.

His healing lineage stems from his Great Gunnyar (Uncle) Charlie Mummins, a highly respected Yarrabunbuddi (Medicine Man). This sacred knowledge passed through his Nardee (Grandad), then to his Yabu (father), and now lives on through Murrie himself.

Walking in Two Worlds

Murrie straddles the cultural and professional worlds with strength and purpose. He is the Manager of Community Engagement for the Treaty Authority in Melbourne, where he supports structural change for Aboriginal communities. Yet his spirit remains rooted in the red earth of Central Queensland, grounded in tradition and community.

Inspired by Legacy, Driven by Vision

Inspired by his late father — a respected community chairman of Woorabinda who helped drive change for local youth and families — Murrie is committed to continuing that legacy. His vision is bold and clear:

To build self-sustaining, culturally grounded communities that thrive without reliance on government funding.
