Handcrafted from Rosewood

Our Common Boomerang is handcrafted from Rosewood, a strong and sturdy hardwood known for its durability. Rosewood carries the spirit of strength and resilience, making it the ideal material for a functional and lasting hunting tool. At Yarbun Creations, we walk on Country to find the perfect piece of timber. We never rush this step. We seek the right shape in the trees—natural curves that guide our design.

The Making Process

We shape the boomerang using traditional techniques. Although we no longer use stone axes or sandpaper trees, the time and care involved remain the same. Each step—from carving and sanding to finishing—follows a process that honours the old ways. We let the wood grain shine through, revealing the story of the tree it came from.

This boomerang is often the first image that comes to mind when people hear the word. It is the most well-known type and has been used in sport, competition, and of course, hunting. Designed to take down animals such as the possum, this medium-sized boomerang is powerful and balanced.
